Girl Scout Camdyn Glover will be “bridging to adult” upon her looming high school graduation after 13 years as a Scout, and she made a pilgrimage to cap off the journey in the place the organization was founded.
Glover commemorated her milestone Saturday morning by walking the Talmadge Bridge alongside nearly 200 other Scouts as part of a yearly tradition in Savannah. Dubbed “Bridging Savannah’s Bridge,” the Girl Scouts of Higher Georgia hosts the event to symbolize Girl Scouts transitioning to their next level.

“We wanted to just do something really special,” said Glover, who traveled from Long Island, New York, with her mother, Jennifer. “Everybody’s been more than welcoming and so kind, so I just love the sisterhood down here.”
Girl Scouts spanning all ranks – daisies, brownies, juniors up to ambassadors– filled a vacant lawn on Hutchinson Island the morning of June 21 before the walk. There, Scouts recited the Girl Scout Promise and Law and danced line dances before the walk.
In total, some 300 Scouts participated in the event. Those who were under 10 years old rode a Savannah Belles Ferry across the Savannah River as their “bridging” act.
