58th Annual Meeting

The Girl Scouts of Suffolk County is governed, according to its bylaws, by a Board of Directors composed of volunteer women and men who believe in the value of Girl Scouting and are elected by the Delegate Body of the council.

The Annual Council Meeting is facilitated by the President of the Board of Directors and is an opportunity for the important business of electing the Board of Directors, the Board Development Committee and every three years the National Council Delegates and Alternates to take place.

This year, our Council delegates unanimously voted on the slate and we inducted members to our Board of Directors.

We highlighted our State of the Council during the 2024-2025 Girl Scout Year, honored our outstanding and dedicated Girl Scout Volunteers with our Volunteer Appreciation Awards, and recognized long-time volunteer Laura Nealon with the Nancy Entenmann Award.

We acknowledged 5 graduating Ambassador Girl Scouts with the Past Presidents Scholarship, gave a big round of applause to our Medal of Honor recipient, Diana Hubschman, and recognized our Girl Advisory Team and Media Girls for their support of the Council and for making the world a better place through their service and stories.

What Happens at the Annual Meeting? toggle arrow

State of the Council presentation
Election of officers, directors at large, and members of the Board Development Committee. In addition, every three years, delegates, and alternates are nominated and named to represent GSSC at the National Convention.
Consideration is discussed of any proposed amendments to the bylaws.
Members in attendance provide input on key issues affecting the Council and the Movement.
Considerations for any other business appropriate to come before the corporation in accordance with the process established by the board of directors.
Recognition of our Past President Scholarship Winners, the Nancy Entenmann Award recipient, and other special awards.

Delegate Responsibilities toggle arrow

As a delegate, you are entitled to elect representatives for the Council’s Board of Directors, Board Development Committee and National Council Delegates.

As a Delegate your responsibilities include participating in trainings, attending Service Unit meetings, and being the voice for your Service Unit at Council’s Annual Meeting as required by our bylaws. In addition to approving the slate of candidates at the Annual Meeting, you will also review our Council's progress toward our goals with updates from our board chair and our CEO.
