GSSC Welcomes Tammy S. Severino as Interim President & CEO

Girl Scouts of Suffolk County’s (GSSC) Board of Directors recently appointed Tammy S. Severino as its Interim President & CEO. Ms. Severino has a rich and extensive tenure in nonprofit management, women’s empowerment, philanthropy and entrepreneurialism.
Ms. Severino is President of RPC Development, a boutique consulting firm specializing in strategy, development, market research, and planning for start-up, small and mid-sized businesses, organizations, and associations. She leads workshops and seminars on philanthropy, grant writing, small business, entrepreneurial skills, and nonprofit trends, as well as women’s empowerment and work/life balance issues. She serves as a business mentor and coach for professionals, particularly those looking for significant change. Prior to opening RPC Development, Ms. Severino served in leadership positions for nonprofit organizations, where her strategy, Board development, and fundraising skills resulted in a history of exceeding goals.
“As a Girl Scout Alumna, Parent, Volunteer and former Board Member, Tammy has truly exemplified the Girl Scout spirit,” says Donna Smeland, GSSC Chair of the Board. “We are delighted that she is continuing her dedication to the Girl Scout movement in this new capacity.”
Ms. Severino’s efforts in the arenas of business and nonprofit have earned her many recognitions, including: two-time winner of Long Island Business News’ Top 50 Women in Business; a recipient of the 2019 Angel Award winner from the Equity First Foundation; a two-time recipient of the President’s Award from the CEO of Girl Scouts of Suffolk County; winner of the Fortune 52 Award from Long Island Press; The Top 40 Under 40 Award from Long Island Business News; and the Chairman’s Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals of Long Island.
Ms. Severino serves on several Boards of Directors including the Michael Magro Foundation (for the families of children battling cancer and catastrophic illness), Silver Hearts Sanctuary (a home for abandoned, homeless senior pets), and Mosaic Visions. She serves as an advisor for Girls Inc. of Long Island and The Morgan Center, as well as an advisor for her daughter’s Girl Scout troop as they pursue their Silver Award and, for the prior two years, their Bronze Award. Prior to her position as Interim President & CEO, Ms. Severino also served on Girl Scouts of Suffolk County’s Board of Directors.
