Camp Edey is located on 95 acres on the beautiful San Souci lakes in Bayport and has been home to amazing Girl Scout outdoor experiences for over 75 years. Our camp has two pools, an archery range, TWO GaGa ball pits, a disc golf course, and even hiking trails. Our summer camp program includes things our girls love—like scavenger hunts, outdoor sports, amazing weekly themes, and STEM + Art activities in a safe and fun environment that fosters her sense of adventure.

Our Camp Values
Camp is a community. The community of camp is unique; it is shaped by the physical, the outdoor space of camp, the team-building nature of our activities, and the welcoming environment that we strive to create.
Your camper should expect to be immersed in an environment that:

Registration/Cancellations Policies
Easy Online Registration
All you need is a $45 non-refundable deposit per week for Day Camp and/or $100 non-refundable deposit per week for Sleepaway Camp to reserve your spot. Refunds are only considered for medical reasons.
Payment Plan
Your balance will be conveniently and automatically debited from the credit card you choose on the due date, which is 14 days before the start of each weekly session. You may pay toward your balance at any time before the due date. More Options Coming Soon!
Girl Scout Membership Policy For 2025-2026
All campers are required to be registered Girl Scouts and pay the $70 membership fee, which is valid for the Girl Scout year until 9/30/2026. The fee does not apply to currently registered Girl Scouts.
Important Note:
Online Summer Camp registration, including Before and After Care, closes at 5:00 PM on the Wednesday prior to the start of the session. You may request to register after this time by contacting the Camp at camp@gssc.us or call (631) 543-6622. Registrations approved after this time will be charged a $25 late registration fee.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made more than eight (8) business days in advance of the first day of your child’s camp session will receive a full refund, including the deposit. Requests made less than seven (7) business days before the start of the applicable session, will not receive a refund for the canceled session. All requests for refunds must be submitted electronically via the Refund Request Form 8 days prior to the start date.
Transfer Request Policy
Requests to transfer sessions must be made in writing through our online form and require a $15 session transfer fee. Missed days will not be prorated.
Healthy & Safety Information
Our camper’s health and safety is our top priority. Our camps operate in accordance with the high standards of Girl Scouts of the USA, New York State health laws and Suffolk County health regulations. Inspection reports concerning our camps and full written safety plan are on file at the health department.
Health/Medical
A health supervisor is on duty at all times. All camp staff are 18 years old or older and trained in CPR, First Aid, and Epi-pen procedures.
Current camper medical history reports are on file and a written medical plan is approved by the Health Department.
Our immunization policy will be as follows: Parents/Caregivers must provide documentation that their child has received NYS required immunizations including two doses of the MMR vaccine.
Staff
All directors have experience in camping administration or supervision and meet the requirements for NYS health code. Training is required and provided for all camp staff. During camp (on and off site), our safety ratio is 1 counselor to 8 campers.
During off-site trips for Teen-ventures, Trip Leader and accompanying staff are trained on all health/safety procedures, specific to field trips as well.
Fire Safety
We practice periodic fire drills for both campers and staff on-site and all fire safety precoedure are held in accordance with NYS law. Campfires are held in a desginated fire circle area and operated by trained staff.
Food & Nutrition
Food preparation and handling activities are reviewed to assure safe and sanitary practices. Kitchen staff are certified in food handling procedures.
Swimming/Lakefront
Our swimming program and all waterfront activities are administered according to American Red Cross standards and New York State health laws. We maintain a safety ratio of 1 counselor to 8 campers and use of the “buddy system” for all aquatic activities. Campers are swim tested weekly and non-swimmers are kept in water less than chest deep. Life preservers are worn for lakefront activities.
Archery
Our archery range is in a designated location at a safe distance from other activities and our Range Leaders are certified by USA Archery.

Medication at Camp
If your camper requires medication at camp- Please be sure to tell us about the reason when filling out the Camper Medical Information Form. Life-saving medication such as Epi-pen or an inhaler may be self-carried or counselor-carried. All other medication must be housed in our Nurse's Station as per the Suffolk County Department of Health.
Please send all necessary medication with your child on the first day of camp, marked to the attention of the Health Supervisor. Contact the Health Supervisor prior to your child’s camping week to discuss the medication that will be administered.
- All medication, Prescription and/or Over-the-Counter (OTC), must be sent in the original container with the child’s name.
- A note from the prescribing physician with specific instructions about dosage and times for assistance in self-administering (must accompany OTC medication too.)
- Parents/Caregivers must also include their written permission for our Health Supervisor to assist the camper to self-administer that medication.
- Please put all medications, along with 2 written notes in a zip lock bag with Camper's name on the bag.
- Expired medication will not be accepted; please check all medications thoroughly. Please let the Health Supervisor know if the child must bring home any medication at the end of each camp day.
Pick-Up, Drop-Off, & Extended Care
Important Changes for 2026
In the past, Extended Care was one flat rate that covered both mornings and afternoons. Beginning this summer, families can now choose AM only, PM only, or both. This change allows us to ensure we have the appropriate staffing for each shift.
The regular camp day runs from 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM. See rates below:
- $50 per camper, per week for AM (8:00–9:00 AM drop-off)
- $50 per camper, per week for PM (4:30–6:00 PM pick-up)
- $100 per camper, per week for both AM & PM
- Week 1: $40 AM, $40 PM, $80 both (short week)
Any camper picked up after 6:00 PM will incur a $15 fee for every 15 minutes or a portion thereof until picked up. Payments for late pickup will be charged automatically to the credit card on file.
Regular Pick-Up/ Drop-Off: Parents will pull up to the designated area at the Welcome Center and remain in their car.
- Drop-off begins at 9:00 AM. At Drop-Off, campers will be checked in and escorted to their group.
- If you drop off after 9:15 am, you must park your car and sign your camper in inside the Welcome Center office with a camp team member.
- Pick-up begins at 4:00 PM. At Pick-Up, the parent will give their camper's pick-up password. We will check out your camper and they will be escorted to your car.
- If you need to pick-up your camper earlier than 3:30 PM, you must sign them out in the Welcome Center office.
- There will be NO EARLY DISMISSAL after 3:30 PM. You MAY NOT line up before the campers are dismissed.
No child will be permitted to enter or leave without an appropriate escort. Any person over 18 can pick up your camper with the pick-up password. If you need to change your password, please get in touch with our Camp Office at camp@gssc.us or call (631) 543-6622, press 2.
Camper Password for Pick-Up
For a streamlined pick-up process, we have implemented a CAMPER PASSWORD for camper dismissal. No more checking IDs or worrying about whether you remembered to add an authorized pick-up to your camper's profile.
How It Works:
- Camper Password: Any adult (18+) who gives the current CAMPER PASSWORD to Camp Edey staff at dismissal will be allowed to pick up your camper.
- Entering the Password: Parents/caregivers must input the password into their camper's profile in Campwise.
- Changing the Password: If you need to change your camper's password, please email camp@gssc.us.
This system is designed to enhance the safety and security of our campers while simplifying the pick-up process for parents and caregivers. Thank you for your cooperation and support!

Applications for the 2026 Counselor in Training Program are OPEN!
The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program at Camp Edey provides an impactful experience for young women interested in leadership and youth development. All CITs receive full scholarships, making this prestigious program more accessible than ever before.
This program offers a select group of young women, ages 15-17 (rising 10th through 12th graders), the opportunity to develop leadership skills, gain hands-on experience working with younger campers, and engage in a structured program designed to foster personal and professional growth.
This immersive experience is designed for individuals who aspire to be role models, demonstrate a commitment to working with children, and are eager to learn from their peers—our counselors, ages 18-23, and camp leadership. CITs will refine their communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a supportive, all-girls environment that emphasizes both leadership and meaningful peer connections.
In addition to their leadership development, CITs will take part in our weekly Teen Venture Trips, which range from engaging educational experiences to purely fun outings—think Splish Splash, Adventureland, and more. These trips provide an opportunity to bond with fellow CITs while making the most of summer.
This program offers a highly immersive, scholarship-funded leadership experience that prepares young women for future success while allowing them to create lifelong friendships along the way.
Program Details:

Eligibility: Girls ages 15-17 (rising 10th-12th graders);
prior Camp Edey experience preferred.
- Applicants who have completed one summer as a CIT and would like to return must submit a new CIT application. Girls who have completed two summers as a CIT and are interested in working as a Counselor should contact Camp Director Amy Keyes at akeyes@gssc.us.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:45 AM - 4 PM. Half-days and partial weeks are not available.
- Tuition: Accepted participants will receive a full tuition scholarship.
- Duration: Participants commit to a minimum of three weeks, with placements available for up to eight weeks.
- Additional Opportunities: CITs will take part in weekly Teen Venture Trips, providing exposure to team-based outdoor experiences that complement their leadership development.
- Training Requirement: Attendance at training sessions in late June is required.
- Capacity: Enrollment is limited to eight CITs per week to ensure individualized mentorship and a high-quality experience.:
Application & Admission Requirements:
Admission to the CIT program is competitive, and candidates are expected to demonstrate maturity, responsibility, and a strong interest in youth development. To be considered, applicants must submit:
- A completed application form
- A copy of their most recent high school report card
- A personal essay (1-2 pages,
size 12 font, double-spaced) responding to one of the Essay
Prompts below :
- Improving Self-Image: If you could change one thing in the world to help girls feel better about themselves and their bodies, what would you change? Why would that matter, and how could you model that idea as a CIT?
- Knowing Your Strengths: What is one thing you do really well? Describe a specific example that shows this strength, and explain how it would help you be a strong and dependable CIT.
- Caring About the Bigger Picture: What is one problem in the world that worries you? What gives you hope about it, and what is one small action you can take to make things better as a CIT and role model?
Application Deadlines & Decision Notification:
This program represents a significant opportunity for young women to build critical leadership and mentoring skills in a dynamic, structured environment. All application materials must be submitted by Friday, April 24, 2026, and decisions regarding acceptance and placement will be communicated by Monday, May 4th, 2026.
Application Instructions:
- The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) application must be completed in one sitting, as you cannot save your progress and return later. Before beginning, ensure you have the following documents ready to upload: your most recent high school report card and your completed essay (1-2 pages, size 12 font, double-spaced).
- In addition to uploading these documents, the application includes four short-answer questions that require thoughtful, well-structured responses. Strong writing matters, so please check your spelling and grammar before submitting. Expect to spend 45 minutes to 1 hour completing the application in full. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Summer Camp Tuition Assistance
Important Tuition Assistance Update
Due to overwhelming demand, all tuition assistance funds for Summer Camp 2026 have been fully allocated. Families who submitted an application and received a waitlist notification remain under consideration and will be contacted if additional funding becomes available.
We are not able to accept new applications at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
We are committed to making camp accessible to as many families as possible. Our tuition assistance program is primarily income-based.
However, we also recognize that financial circumstances are not always reflected by income alone. Families who may not qualify based strictly on household income but are experiencing significant financial strain—such as unexpected medical expenses, job loss, or other hardships—are encouraged to share those circumstances when applying. This allows us to consider the full picture and extend support where it is most needed.
Information on the 2026 Application program will be available in early Spring 2026.
For Summer 2026, tuition assistance is awarded as a lump sum tuition credit for the full summer, rather than a weekly discount.
Awards are based on:
- Household income relative to Suffolk County Area Median Income (AMI), and your camper’s grade level.
- Campers in grades 1–6 receive one credit amount, and campers in grades 7–9 receive a higher amount to reflect the cost of Teen programming.
- For households with multiple campers, assistance is provided for up to two campers, with the total award based on each eligible camper’s grade level.
- Your tuition credit can be applied across the weeks and programs you choose, giving you flexibility to build a schedule that works for your family.
Tuition assistance applications are due by May 22, 2026. Download the application form (PDF) and fill out the required fields. Awards are made on a rolling, first-come basis, and funding is limited. Applications may close early if funds are fully allocated.
Girl Scouts of Suffolk County is offering tuition assistance for summer camp on the following sliding scale based on income or other qualifying circumstances.
Please note: if you have already applied for and/or been approved for financial assistance for the 2023 season, you can choose to keep the flat discount ($100 per week except for week 2) OR reapply through the new application and receive the amount they're eligible for under the new program. You must submit a completed application with the required supporting documentation to receive assistance. Completed application forms with the required supporting documents must be received no later than June 1, 2023, for the 2023 Summer Camp season. Applicants will be notified of their assistance result within five (5) business days of receipt of their completed application. Assistance is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible applicants until the summer camp tuition fund is exhausted for the season.
Tuition assistance cannot be combined with other summer camp discounts/offers.
