than 2,500 troops in Suffolk County that meet on a regular basis in community buildings, schools and occasionally homes. GSSC also
sponsors an extensive array of groups and special interest activities, including Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer Camp, and many
other programs. Independent Girl Scouts may participate in council-wide activities such as trips, training workshops, and camp
without joining a troop.
Membership is open to all girls in Suffolk County between the ages of 5 and 17. The only requirements for membership are that girls
make the Girl Scout Promise, accept the Girl Scout Law and pay annual membership dues. Financial assistance is available. No
girl is ever turned away from Girl Scouting!
